Geez what a difference! I haven't used Autocad in about 8 years and I was instantly back on track getting the job done in about a third of the time and with NO frustration. In a fit of frustration with some of Draftsight's own idiocy I downloaded the trial form of ACAD Lite. Kcress - RE: Draftsight 2019 - no longer Free itsmoked (Electrical) 21 Jul 19 03:30 What the hell's wrong with them? How hard is it to keep track of how many copies of a license are running on the planet? NanoCAD does offer floating licences except they demand the floaters be on the same network. So that would mean I'd have to buy 2 copies even though only one would ever be running at a time. I work on drawings at home and at the office and they're allowing only one CPU period. I'd probably go with DraftSight except their licensing sucks for me. (Free for hobbyists or companies doing less than x$ business.) It's also twice the price of DraftSight.Īs for DraftSight ransoming our drawings, is that really true? Can't we store them on our hardware and access them with any DFX or DWG tool? This is not like Fusion360 where you really are ransomed except they have a really generous licencing agreement. I hope nanoCAD doesn't pull the same trick on us. Kcress - RE: Draftsight 2019 - no longer Free SBaugh (Mechanical) I'm glad to hear there are some alternatives. It would appear and in the time it took to read the file name it would vaporize it and my antiV would pop up a window to inform me of a 'save'. Hilariously my anti virus program found and nixed the keycracker every time it opened. I thought about using a cracked version to keep the files on MY computer instead of their cloud. So today the same thing 'you must activate (again!)' but with that nasty in- red you shall bend over after December. Really aggravating, especially since the activation process was broken about half the time. I've always cursed the Dassault idiots because on two computers at least one would be whining about needing to be "activated" every rare time I opened it. I use DraftSight about 10 times a year to cobble up a cnc router part or a field wiring diagram. If you have eDrawings installed, you can send the model directly to its publishing module for sharing purposes.Just smashed my face into this too. You can also insert hyperlinks, reference drawings and images and various objects such as PDF documents, equations, charts and so on.Īs far as the export options go, you’ve got the possibility to save the drawings to BMP, WMF, PNG, JPG, SVG, EPS, TIF, STL and PDF format. Highlights include support for layers, animated rendering, a wide array of formatting tools (various styles for texts, tables, scales and unit system options), as well as the possibility to insert shapes (lines, polylines, rectangles, arcs, circles, rings, splines, ellipses, sketches, text, masks, etc).Ī model can be modified using features such as offset, mirror, spit, weld, chamfer, extend, trim, rotate, scale, stretch to name the most important ones. You can equally create a new design or open an existing model for further exploration. It has support for formats such as DWG, DXF and DWT, which are some of the most popular model formats of the CAD field. The GUI doesn’t sport the complex and heavy appearance characteristic to CAD software, but a tidier, cleaner look that appeals more to the crowds. It’s fit for students, teachers and engineers who want to explore CAD drawings intuitively and elegantly.ĭraftSight’s design is simpler than most professional CAD applications, but this is not to say that its purpose isn’t served right. Create, edit, and view DWG files with DraftSightĭraftSight addresses CAD users, allowing them to create, view and manage DWG and DXF drawings in a professional and streamlined environment that can be manipulated by both beginner and professional users.ĭraftSight is yet another CAD application that rises on an already rich software market, but uses a more easy and comfortable approach therefore targeting a larger audience.
